WHERE 3x TOOK SHAPE
Denver, Colorado is home to the early development of 3x.
It is where the game was named 3x ("three-by") and where Guy C. developed, tested, refined, and wrote the rules that form the foundation of the game today.
What began as a simple backyard game among friends became a way to create more opportunities for athletes to play, learn, and improve and is now growing into something broader: a fast, engaging game that stands on its own and can bring people and the broader community together in new ways.
WHY WE PLAY 3x
Player development has always been central to 3x.
The game creates more opportunities to handle the ball, make on- and off-ball decisions on both sides of the ball, read the field in a simplified setting, react in real game situations, and develop the instincts and game understanding that make lacrosse players better.
But development is only part of the reason 3x exists.
3x is fun.
The game naturally creates opportunities for people of different ages, backgrounds, experience levels, and abilities to enjoy playing together. Beginners can discover the game. Experienced players can sharpen their skills and compete. Kids, adults, families, girls, boys, women, and men can all find ways to be part of the 3x community.
The goal is simple: more opportunities to play, learn, compete, connect, and enjoy the game.
THE DENVER 3x VIBE
Think a little bit of the Hawaiian shaka or “hang loose” vibe.
Denver 3x is competitive without taking itself too seriously. Play hard. Respect the game. Respect the people playing it. Enjoy the moment.
Win or lose, the bigger idea remains the same:
Love the game. Welcome people in. Have fun playing.
That spirit—laid-back, inclusive, competitive, and community-minded—is the Denver 3x vibe.
DENVER GIVES US ROOM TO PLAY
Denver metro offers an incredible variety of places to bring people together around 3x—from neighborhood and regional parks to athletic complexes, turf fields, indoor facilities, and community recreation spaces.
That flexibility fits the spirit of the game. 3x can meet communities where they are and create opportunities to play in settings that make sense locally.
CHAPTER LEAD
Guy Cerasoli ~ Denver Chapter Lead
Guy wrote the rules to 3x and named the game.
His original focus was to have fun with friends and family. In so doing he realized that simply playing the game helps players develop better lacrosse skills, decision-making, game IQ, and instincts. Both fun and skill development remain central to the Denver Chapter. The Denver Chapter is here to create more opportunities for people to simply enjoy playing the game together.
